You don't need a perfect craft to make a memory. A scrap of paper with this year's favorite family moment can be something lovely to unpack next December.

GATHER YOUR SUPPLIES

  • Paper or thin card you already have
  • Crayons or washable markers
  • Child-appropriate scissors, used with adult supervision
  • A hole punch and short hanging loops, handled by an adult

MAKE A LITTLE KEEPSAKE

  1. Draw large circles, stars, or simple house shapes. An adult can cut shapes for younger children.
  2. Add a drawing or a favorite memory from the year.
  3. Write the year on the back. Ask each person what they want to remember.
  4. An adult can punch a hole and add a short loop for display, away from young children's reach.

Skip loose decorations and hanging loops for very young children; display their drawings flat instead. Keep tools, cords, and small pieces under adult control.

MAKE IT A TRADITION

Save your paper creations in a labeled envelope. Next year's craft can begin with a look back at this one.
