Before another trip to the store, bring your autumn decorations to the table. Neutral baskets, glass jars, fabric runners, and wooden bowls can work well beyond Thanksgiving.

1 KEEP THE QUIET PIECES

Set aside anything that still feels useful: a plain vase, a woven tray, a neutral tablecloth, or a ribbon. Clean each item using care instructions appropriate to its material.

2 CHANGE JUST ONE THING

Try a different ribbon on a jar, paper stars above a shelf, or a bowl of ornaments you already own. You don't need to replace the whole arrangement to change the mood.

3 MAKE A DRY ARRANGEMENT

Use clean, dry decorative items and keep them away from flames, heaters, and food preparation. Battery-powered lights can add a little glow; follow their instructions and inspect them before use.

4 COUNT WHAT YOU ACTUALLY SPENT

List new supplies separately from reused materials. Reusing a bowl is different from buying one for this project. That distinction makes your comparison honest.

Decorative greenery and small ornaments aren't toys. Keep loose pieces out of reach of young children and pets.
